To envision, plan for and bring about the
most beautiful and enhanced Raintree Lake Common Grounds possible. To do so in
a way respective of, and beneficial to, the residents of both today and
tomorrow.
The Common Ground Committee is looking for residents interested in beautifying common ground within Raintree Lake. Such projects have included new flag poles, tree plantings, park benches & trashcans, flower planting and much more! Additionally, the Common Ground Committee created the "Yard of the Month" program in 2001 as an incentive program for those neighbors helping to keep our neighborhood beautiful and well-maintained. If you enjoy these amenities and would like to help in future planning, we are looking for residents with fresh new ideas!

YARD OF THE MONTH
May begins the Yard of the Month Program. Just a reminder regarding
the program! The program started in 1998, and runs from May through
September of every year. Three homes are picked each month, one on the
North side, one on the South side, and one in the maintenance free areas of the
lake. The award is for well maintained front
and/or back yards. Since Raintree Lake is such a big community, we have
not reached the point where we are picking repeat winners. The Common
Ground Committee drives the streets in Raintree to find the award winning
yards, but welcomes suggestions from residents. Just call the
office. The Common Ground Committee will make sure the yard is not a
previous winner, and then will go out to view the recommended yard. What
does winning the award mean for you? You will get a Yard of the Month
sign posted in your yard, a $50 gift certificate from Nick's Greenleaf Nursery
on 150 Highway, and best of all, bragging rights on your street.
The February Garden Club article stated that good landscaping adds five to
eleven percent to the value of your home. A recent classified ad in
the Shorelines on a house for sale listed one of the selling points as a winner
of the Yard of the Month. Laura Ingalls Wilder stated "Did you every think how a bit of land displays the character of the
owner?" Whether you win Yard of the Month or not, a well
maintained yard shows your pride in your home and the community you live in.
Continue to keep your yards nice because you never know if the Common Ground
Committee will be knocking at your door.
